WATER
Written by Mahasweta Devi
Directed by Ranjita Chakravarty
Dance direction by Sanjib Bhattacharya

Auditions: July 16 & 17
Tech: Oct 11, 12, 13
Shows: Oct 14, 15, 16, 21, 22

Rehearsals will begin in July and will gather pace in August.

The play, set in rural Bengal, portrays the struggle of lower caste villagers to get access to water. There will be dance and music in the play. Most actors will perform simple dance movements on stage. Proficiency in any form of dance is not necessary.

In-person auditions will be held on July 16 and 17, at our rehearsal studio at 1585 N. 4th Street, Unit I, San Jose 95112. If you are interested in auditioning but are not available on these dates, please indicate this in the Audition Form below. We are likely to schedule alternate auditions prior to the main auditions (date TBD). Please note that the cast will be finalized only after the main auditions end on July 17. We would prefer that you came to the main auditions if you can.

Monologue auditions will be held on July 16, in the afternoon. Each auditionee will be given an individual slot for their monologue audition. Auditionees who are successful in this stage of the audition will be invited to Callbacks, the morning of July 17. At the Callbacks, auditionees will read from the play’s script along with other auditionees.

The Callbacks will start at 9:30am. This time is subject to change as we get closer to the audition day.

Actors who have been in the cast of a recent BADCo production may come straight to Callbacks but they must still fill out the Audition Form.

Please fill out and submit your Audition Form to receive further instructions about the audition process.

If you would like to be a part of the crew of Water, as part of the backstage or design teams, please write to us at info@bayareadrama.company
