Desi Diaspora Stories

Do you know of an interesting story that depicts the lives of South Asians in the US? Would you like to see that story on stage? Read on…

In 2021 we staged a show called Our Stories.

A collection of funny and moving short plays, based on the true stories of South Asian immigrants to America. From the stigma around mental health to the role of race in relationships and marriage – the stories explore a variety of contemporary themes relevant to the community.

The show was a huge success. So, like all good hits, we think there should be a sequel.

Our Stories 2 will be part of our 2023-24 season (dates TBD), with separate shows in English and Tamil.

All the plays in the first Our Stories were, original - based on stories that we gathered from our community of artists and their friends and families. For Our Stories 2, we want to include you in this gathering of stories.

If you have a story based on real events (more or less) that draws on the essence of what it means to be South Asian in America, and would like to see it on stage, we’d love to hear from you. You can send us the story by email to info@bayareadrama.company or even tell it to us over the phone or coffee. We will credit you for the story if we decide to run with it. Or if you want it to stay anonymous, that’s fine too.

This post on our website, will give you an idea about the kinds of stories we had last time. If you have any questions, fire away. email: info@bayareadrama.company
