Not Equal To is a gripping tale of intrigue and corporate corruption set in the not-too-distant future of the Indian IT industry.
Ingenius, the leading company in the industry, is witnessing a face-off between employees and management. Anna, the leader of the Underground Union pits her wits against the company's powerful Chairman Rao. Anna’s boyfriend, Rahul, becomes a pawn in this high-stakes game of hacked servers and media leaks. Will Chairman Rao survive the assault by a determined Anna? Or will he be forced to resign by the board?
Not Equal To is a play about inequality and how the privileged strive to preserve their dominance.

as Anna
Ekta is a Product Manager at a tech company by day and an actor the rest of the time. Ekta’s notable works as a stage actor include Violet in August: Osage County, She in How He Lied To Her Husband and Bianca in Taming of The Shrew. In the past, Ekta has taken stage acting classes with Andrew Utter, the founder of Uranium Madhouse, a theater company in LA and TV and film classes with First Take Acting program. Ekta loves acting because where else do you get to live so many characters, so many lives. She is thrilled to play Anna, to learn from such talented group of people and to evolve as an actor.
Anirban Chakraborty
as Rahul
Anirban's most recent performances include Loke ki Bolbe (What Will People Say!), Amartya (The Immortal), Barin Bhowmik's Ailment, Oh My God! and Season 4 of The Traffick, a web-series produced by Film Acting Bay Area. He is also taking acting lessons at Film Acting Bay Area. He is excited to be part of such a talented group at Bay Area Drama Company committed to showcasing meaningful yet entertaining theatre.
Basab Pradhan
as Chairman Rao
Basab Pradhan is a stage actor, director and playwright. His notable work as an actor includes Moolchand in Rahul Varma's Counter Offence, Salman in Wajahat Ali's The Domestic Crusaders, Jairaj in Mahesh Dattani's Dance Like a Man and the molestor 'Uncle' in Dattani's 30 Days in September.
Basab is Founder & Co-Artistic Director of Bay Area Drama Company.
Sindu Singh
as Chitra
Sindu recently directed Rahul Varma's Counter Offence, Girish Karnad's Wedding Album and Mahesh Dattani's Dance Like a Man. She has essayed multiple roles with various Bay Area theatre companies. Favorites include Malini in Anupama Chandrasekhar’s Free Outgoing, Naina in Basab Pradhan's adaptation of Ibsen's A Doll's House, Damyanti in Mahesh Elkunchwar's Party, Bagheera in Harish Agastya's Mowgli and I, Sarita in Vijay Tendulkar's Kamla, and Hamida Begum in Asghar Wajahat's Jis Lahore Nahin Vekhya O Jammyai Nahin. She founded 'Rangmanch', a South Asian theatre group for the Stanford University community, and for its maiden outing, directed and produced Yoni ki Baat, the South Asian version of Eve Ensler's Vagina Monologues.

Jay Ganesh
as Murali
Jay comes from a family of artists. After moving to the Bay Area in the mid 1980's he has played lead roles in several Tamil plays here. Most recently, he played the role of a 30 year old bachelor trying to fall in love in the comedy Kadhal Kalyanam Vaibogame and the role of a 60 year old professor who transforms the life of an elderly man in Thanimai.
Amar Chokshi
as Neel
Amar is an actor and a dancer. In Summer 2017, Amar made his theatre debut as a newspaper editor/lunatic in the musical Toba Tek Singh. Prior to that, he performed as an improv artist with Oakland based Once Upon Your Mind. Amar is a certified Bombay Jam dance fitness instructor and has performed in America's Got Bollywood.
Rita Bhatia
as Priya
Rita has been a lifelong, avid theater enthusiast starting in her school years when she dabbled in acting. After a long hiatus, Rita resurrected her interest in theater with BAD Company as a crew member in Free Outgoing last December. Rita now looks forward to pursuing her passion for acting under the mentorship of theater veterans and is very excited to make her Bay Area debut in the cast of Not Equal To.
Divya Chari
as Vani
Divya has been involved in theater throughout school and college. Most recently, she was part of the production team of the Wharton Theater Club's production of It Runs in the Family. Her other on-stage experience involves Indian classical dance and dance forms such as hip-hop and bachata.
